In the past week, other Korean celebrities such as actress Park Hyesoo and voleyball twin stars Lee Jaeyeong and Lee Dayeong have been pointed out as school bullies. This time, Seventeen’s member Mingyu is under fire for new bullying allegations.
The first post was made public in February 22nd, after several claims of other celebrities and their Iljin past.
The victim reported that after trying to stand up to his gang, Seventeen and 97 line’s member threw a coke lid at the victim’s face and insulted them. Even if he wasn’t the perpetrator for other actions of the gang, “Mingyu stood up next to his friends and did nothing as the victim suffered the insults”.
Pledis released an official statement in the same day, saying that the author didn’t graduate in the same year a Mingyu and that Mingyu has been with the company since his second year of middle school, not his third. It was then reported that the claims were untrue and the post was erased after 3 hours of its publication.
New claims come out
Unexpectedly, three days after the 1st post, a new testimony was published in the Pann website on February 25th. According to the source, the events also happened during middle school.
The grade didn’t have many students, so all fit into a single classroom. Author says she wasn’t very popular and hated by the boys.
Though the classroom teacher had called the boys out for making their classmates uncomfortable, the situation didn’t stop. Furthermore, the boys continued to make jokes about OP’s body hair.
Some time later, this particular boy dropped out of the school as he had been scouted into an entertaintment company. OP wasn’t very interested in it, so she thought of letting it go. As years went on, she came to encounter a post of him in SNS.
Op has been struggling with anxiety and depression, not only related to this matter, but also due to other bullying situations in the same buildingEven though her therapist had told her to speak up about it before, she decided to keep the pain to herself, but the new events opened up the wound.
The post has nearly 250K views just 12 hours after it was posted. Seventeen’s company PLEDIS hasn’t made an official statement yet.
